Planning for Memories

Planning for Memories

August 20, 2020

I am sharing this picture from one of my favorite places. This is our lake house in Wisconsin. My husband and I bought this house 22 years ago when we were just starting our family. I had grown up with Grandparents that had a lake house and I had spent a lot of time there with extended family members. Those memories were some of my best memories from growing up.

Early in our marriage, I had shared my goal with my husband to give our kids those same memories. We found a small house that needed a lot of work and over time made it our own. We saved for changes we wanted to make and things we wanted to add. Many times, we had to make certain sacrifices like eating out or taking vacations because of the second home. But every time we turned off the highway on our way here, we were thankful of that decision many years ago to buy our little house. While I have always loved coming here and it has always been a place of special memories, this year of Covid-19 has allowed us to spend even more time here and appreciate it even more.

I share this because one of my goals in working with individuals is to encourage you to think about what memories that you want to create for yourself or with your families? From special trips with friends to taking your whole family on a cruise, there are many ways of spending your money and your time that bring you great joy. We want to help you plan for and achieve these special goals. As this year has taught us, we can’t plan for everything, but we can certainly plan for some things!
